Welcome to the ACM SIGBioinformatics Page!
The ACM Special Interest Group on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Biomedical Informatics (SIGBioinformatics) was instituted in 2010 with the aim of focusing on research on bioinformatics data management topics, roughly covered by the so-called biological and biomedical data, knowledge, and information management. The focus of SIGBioinformatics is to bridge computer science, mathematics, and statistics, with biology and biomedicine, sharing research interests in the management of data related to life sciences. The mission of ACM SIGBioinformatics is to support advanced research, training, and outreach in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Biomedical Informatics by stimulating interactions among researchers, educators and practitioners from related multi-disciplinary felds.
SIGBioinformatics sponsors the annual ACM Conference on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology and Biomedicine (ACM BCB). The 2012 ACM BCB conference will be held in Orlando, FL, October 7-10, 2012. See the BCB'12 page for more details. If you are interested in hosting future ACM BCB conferences, the see the detailed instructions at Call for BCB Site Proposals.
Researchers and practitioners are invited to join and participate in SIGBioinformatics activities. SIGBioinformatics membership is open to both ACM members and non-members. See membership page for member benefits, and how to join.
SIGBioinformatics publishes regular newsletters apprising the community of the latest developments in the field. Latest issues of the ACM SIGBioinformatics Record can be accessed at the ACM Digital Library site.
