Chen is the Chief Bioinformatics Officer of Informatics Institute at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a tenured Professor of Genetics, Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering, and current President of the Midsouth Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Society (MCBIOS). At UAB, he leads the AI.MED laboratory to advance multi-omics modeling and artificial intelligence application in medicine.
